At Kentaur, we are always interested in developing and producing products from materials with a focus on sustainability. When we choose new materials for our production, the material must be durable and suitable for the textile service industry. The durability also ensures that our users get articles with a long lifespan.

However, not only durability determines whether we can use the material in the production of our Kentaur products.
It is also essential that the material suits the industry where it is worn. Thereby we ensure that the user gets a product that is durable and at the same time comfortable to wear.

Below you can read about some of the materials we use to produce our workwear.

Kentaur is a proud member of The Better Cotton Initiative. With this membership, we are committed to improving global cotton cultivation.

The Better Cotton Initiative trains farmers to develop a more sustainable production. They teach them how to use water more efficiently, care for soil health and natural habitats, and reduce the use of harmful chemicals. In addition, Better Cotton also ensures that workers' rights and well-being are improved.

Better Cotton functions as a Mass Balance system and is therefore not physically traceable to the end-product. Better Cotton farmers benefit from the demand for Better Cotton in similar quantities to those we demand.

See bettercotton.org/massbalance for more details.

With the membership, Kentaur commits to purchasing 50% of our cotton as Better Cotton by 2025. At Kentaur, more responsible cotton currently includes Better Cotton and Fairtrade cotton.

FAIRTRADE® COTTON works specifically to improve the living and working conditions of cotton farmers. Fairtrade® Cotton is based on a chain of custody, which ensures the traceability of the cotton throughout the supply chain. When purchasing articles with the Fairtrade logo, you are guaranteed a product with responsibly produced cotton.

REPREVE® RECYCLED POLYESTER is made from recycled plastic bottles. REPREVE® helps create a loop that recycles waste to make our land, sea, air, and natural resources sustainable for the next generations.

TENCELâ„¢ Lyocell fibers are considered an environmentally responsible material. This is due to the production process, where the wood pulp is processed into cellulose fibers in a closed cycle. This is done with high resource efficiency and low environmental impact.

The process water and solvents are recycled at a recovery rate of more than 99%. Tencel is a light, comfortable material with good absorbency. Thus, this material is very suitable to produce workwear.

TENCELTM Lyocell X REFIBRATM Technology fiber is a blend of TENCELTM Lyocell and recycled cotton cellulose fibers from textile production. Up to one-third of the TENCELTM Lyocell X REFIBRATM Technology fiber is made from recycled cotton. The fibers are spun into yarns and used to create new textiles.
