Sustainable development goals

Sustainable development goals

Clothing and the textile industry in general are sources of pollution that affect both the environment and the people who work in the industry. As a company, we have an obligation, therefore, to protect the environment as well as people.

When we think of sustainability, we do not just look at the product. We work with whole entities, which means that all links in the supply chain are important. Naturally, the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals are also part of our Work.Wear&Care sustainability strategy.

At Kentaur we seek to reduce our negative impact and increase our potential positive influence in the areas where we can in fact make a specific and measurable difference.

The following Sustainable Development Goals and subsequent objectives have priority in Kentaur’s sustainability strategy, and they give an idea of the beacons, and ambitions we will be following up to 2030+.

Social responsibility
Goal 8 – Target 8.5: To achieve full and decent employment with equal pay.
Goal 8 Target 8.8:To protect labour rights and promote safe working environments.
We will ensure decent jobs in the Kentaur Group, and at the same time influence and encourage suppliers to live up to the same obligations and integrate them in their sphere of influence.

It is our aim:

  • Reduction of absence due to illness by 25%.
  • To have zero accidents at work.
  • All production sites will have amfori BSCI auditing schemes at minimum level B by 2022.
  • All suppliers of fabrics and accessories must be screened for social compliance certification in accordance with an accepted standard such as BSCI or Oeko-tex SteP. (Or alternatively e.g. SA8000, FLA, FWF, WRAP, GOTS or Fairtrade textile production).
  • We recruit our employees on the basis of their qualifications – we want a balanced gender distribution throughout Kentaur, with equal pay for work of the same value.
  • Kentaur seeks to create economic opportunities locally – 100% of employees at our production sites must have at least a minimum living wage after six months’ seniority.

Responsible products and responsible use of resources
Goal 12 – Target 12.2:
Sustainable management and efficient use of natural resources. We wish to achieve a 100% sustainable input of materials which
are renewable, or can be recycled or re-used.

It is our aim:

  • That 75% of Kentaur’s own production of goods will be products with the “Sustainable Kentaur” label in 2025 – with 50% of the cotton sourced as Better Cotton.
  • That Kentaur’s fabric waste must be reduced, or used and/or re-used.
  • That Kentaur will assist with the re-use of our products at the end of their life cycle.

Climate responsibility
Goal 13 – Target 13.2: Integrate measures against climate change into policies.
We aim to be a climate-friendly company, and our goal is a 50% reduction in energy consumption and to be CO2 neutral by 2030.
