Get to know the team leaders of the Swiss National Culinary Team

A couple of weeks ago, the Culinary World Cup took place in Luxembourg. Here, talented cooks from across the world participated in the competitions to officially become the world's best.

The big winners were the Swiss, who won Gold 5 times. With support from their team leaders, the crew found its best form, which led them to a win. In this regard, we asked two team leaders questions about themselves and their roles in the team.

Guy Estoppey, Team Leader, Swiss National Culinary Team

What brought you to the team?

One of the coaches contacted me. I had already competed with him on a regional team at a World Cup. He asked me if I was interested in joining the national team.

The possibility of being part of a team and competing at one of the most important competitions in the world was decisive for me.

Why did you become a team leader?

My ability to read and understand the team, who needs what, when, and how, as also my calmness and experience was essential.

I try to be a role model for the team members and encourage them with empathy.

What is the best part of the job?

The best part is to show the young members that we have the best job in the world that we can display on a world stage.

As a link between the team, juniors, and coaches, I take a lot with me on an interpersonal level.

Karina Fruman, Team Leader, Swiss Junior National Culinary Team

What brought you to the team?

Through a spontaneous exchange more than four years ago, I got the possibility to join the team. For this opportunity, I am very thankful.

Why did you become a team leader?

I like to take responsibility and to effectuate things. I find joy in being fully dedicated to the team and the competition.

What is the best part of the job?

I like to work with people and am a big fan of team spirit. Also, I can give my personal note.

Great leadership has led the Swiss National teams to win gold 5. times. Once again, congratulations to the whole team.Â
