Kentaur® makes LCA
In cooperation with danish Tekstilrevolutionen Kentaur® makes an LCA of a popular chef jacket.

We are always interested in learning more. Therefore, about a year ago, we initiated a life cycle analysis in collaboration with the Danish organization Tekstilrevolutionen.

A life cycle analysis, or LCA in short, is a tool used to assess the environmental impact of products, services, and processes. The analysis gives insights into the environmental impact in total of a product. When measuring the environmental impact, the product's lifespan from production and use to end-of-life is measured.

In all three stages, greenhouse gas emissions, water consumption, and toxicity are measured.

In our LCA, we used article 23401, which is a chef jacket. We use this specific article as an example, as the jacket is produced in several of our production places. Thus, this creates a good image for other articles.

In our analysis, we had two different material scenarios and three different production scenarios. These scenarios gave us the possibility to compare the results.

The LCA has given us valuable knowledge that we can use going forward in the selection of material when developing new products, in dialogue with our supply chain about the environmental impact of their processes, and in dialogue with customers, about factors that influence the environmental impact of our products.

With this analysis, we have thus become even wiser about how we can ensure a sustainable development of the company in the future.

In the light of the project, a generic tool was developed, which can give us a better insight and quantify our products' greenhouse gas emissions, land use, and water consumption. So we look at the impact of products from several environmental perspectives.
