HACCP

HACCP certified.

At every layer.

When it comes to food safety, the details matter – and that includes your workwear. At Kentaur, we go beyond just using hygienic materials. We ensure that the entire garment meets the strict requirements of DIN 10524, supporting full HACCP compliance in the food industry.

But what exactly does DIN 10524 certification cover, and why does it matter whether it is the fabric or the finished garment that is certified?

The difference matters

DIN 10524 distinguishes between two levels of certification:

  • Fabric (1)

    Outer fabric certification

This means the textile used meets specific hygiene requirements – such as being durable, easy to clean, and suitable for food environments. While important, this alone does not guarantee that the finished garment is HACCP-compliant.

  • Kentaur Studie Ny Stil 1734 Beskåret

    Ready-made garment certification

This refers to the evaluation of the finished garment’s design – such as seam placement, absence or placement of pockets or fasteners in contamination-sensitive areas, and its overall performance in hygiene-critical environments. However, this certification alone does not represent full compliance.

Compliance depends on the full outfit

DIN 10524 certification does not apply to individual garments in isolation – it applies to a combination of garments, typically a top and bottom worn together. In addition, a complete certification is only achieved when both the outer fabric and the ready-made garment are certified. Only this dual approach ensures that the clothing fully meets the hygiene requirements for HACCP-compliant food production environments.

At Kentaur, our workwear is developed with this full-system thinking in mind. We recommend selecting clothing combinations that are double certified – meaning both the fabric and the finished design have been tested and approved. This provides the most reliable protection and compliance, without compromising on comfort or performance.

It is also important to be aware that some garments may have ready-made garment certification without an underlying fabric certification. Understanding this distinction is essential when choosing the right workwear to meet both internal hygiene policies and external regulatory requirements.
